Shibaricon Reflections & Connections

Filed under: Adventure Reports — Suzanne SxySadist @ 10:47 am

ShibaiconSo I spent a rainy morning lazing in bed, feeling grateful for a day off to totally relax but missing my sweetheart a bit.  I guess it is a good sign that I still miss him after spending seven days & nights together.  I think the saddest moment of the week for me was watching him crawl into a cab to head to his airport while I sat waiting for a shuttle bus to take me to mine.

Yeah I know I will see him again next weekend so it isn’t the end of the world, but it is hard sometimes to go from having him so close for so many days and then nothing.  I have grown very accustomed to being with him and I miss him when he goes home.  I love falling asleep in his arms and then waking up to find him pattering quietly about already placing a perfect cup of Earl Grey tea beside me.  It isn’t that he is a doting subbie boy that I love, in fact I don’t see him that way at all, but I do love the way he shows how much he cares for me in so many sweet little ways.

More on that another day… for now .. let’s get back to “rope space” because I am also missing the camaraderie of my “rope clan”.  Shibaricon is without a doubt my favorite event of the year and there are many folks like Mark, & Lani (pictured below) and my friend Aleni of DV8 House Australia) that I only get to see  at this event.

There were a ton of fabulous shots taken at the event by photographer David Lawrence and his lovely assistant and slave Judy.    He released a few photos to me including this one of me and my sweetheart taken early in the weekend.

As for making connections, this year I was especially glad to make the acquaintance of the Two Knotty Boys who made it to Shibaricon for the first time! If you have been into bondage for more than a week and have ever searched for bondage vids on Youtube you know who Dan & JD are! I was thrilled to have Dan stop by my Low Flying Suspension Class and tell me how much he enjoyed it and then later on at a presenter meeting I made a point of thanking them for their videos because I do truly admire and appreciate the effort that they put into them.  I also respect the fact they they are providing quality bondage material to 1000s of people that would not otherwise have access to it.  Check out some of their awesome videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/2KnottyBoys

I am also really glad that I got to spend more time with Leon & his lovely assistant Cherry.  I have seen them in the halls and in passing almost every one of my seven trips to Chicago and never really had the opportunity to visit and get to know them but this time we finally  an opportunity to head out of the hotel and grab a bite together.

Mark & I also got to sit down and chat to Max of BondageLessons.com  over a strawberry daiquiri at the end of the event and found him to be a very charming man as well. He extended an invitation to Seattle that I am going to work on taking him up on hopefully in the next year or so.  I have heard fabulous things about his classes and as much as I know about bondage I never tire of watching another artist at work and I simply love picking up tips and tricks from fellow rope enthusiasts.

Which is exactly why I love Shibaricon so much!  Rope lovers from all over the world come to Chicago to share their passion and their expertise with each other!  But don’t take my word for it .. check out what some of my fellow presenters and rope loving Mistress’ had to say:

Encouraging Class Comments

Filed under: Personal Reflections — Suzanne SxySadist @ 8:19 am

I have been teaching classes of various kinds for over 10 years now and although I will be the first to admit I have a tendency to be overly self critical at times, the simple truth is if you get up in front of a room full of people often enough, at some point you can just feel that some days you are more on than not. I did 4 classes at Shibaricon and I felt I hit hit 2 of them pretty well out of the park and well two of them didn’t feel like they landed quite as well.

I was feeling sort of down about that this week until I got a couple of emails from people that have been to my classes. Then I decided to peek back at a few other class comments I have received and post a few of them here mainly as a reminder to myself that although I am far from perfect, it is an amazing feeling when I am able to deliver a message that makes a difference in some one’s life.

Comments from students: “I’ve been using the breathing techniques not only in scene work, but also to calm and center my gf when she gets upset, so thanks again for your wisdom and knowledge.”

“I was in your ecstatic breathing class kind of mostly following along, but also just being in awe of how many people got it.  That’s an amazing gift… as much as I can feel energy, and can sometimes just touch someone and they can feel it too, or understand… I find it’s very hard for some people to understand. I was just blown away by how many people were getting it in your class, and it was really exciting and awesome to feel.  It’s not often I get to bathe in that kind of energy, but it’s very rejuvenating and reassuring that humanity at its core is light not dark. Just wanting to pass on my email, and thanks to you.”

“The ending demo of the weekend was especially touching. Using a combination of breathing exercises, spirit building techniques, and excellent style and mannerism gave the participating members a wonderful relaxing / meditative / energizing group connecting experience. It produced the most concentrated “energy” that I find psychically nourishing and rejuvenating that I’ve encountered.”

“I must say Sunday morning session on breath play, etc with the group was probably the one of the most touching moments in myself and my slaves life, thank you. Thank you everyone for sharing your love and lifestyles with us.”

“Ending the weekend with the connection and breath demo was refreshing, I felt growth, change, happiness and sadness, I was over whelmed with the love within and outside of the circle as I looked around ..I truly care for you all…Thank you for sharing such a special weekend with U/us.”

“The presentations were wonderful!  I thoroughly enjoyed them.  I want to especially thank my partner in the intention/connection class.  That was a very spiritual and moving experience for me.  I could not ask for a better person to have shared that journey with.”

The Hanged Man

Filed under: Adventure Reports — Suzanne SxySadist @ 8:14 pm

Sunday night at the con, my buddy Christo asked if I could toss him up into the hanged man pose once again.  I did this same suspension tie on him last year but the rig that was available to us was a fair bit shorter so his head was actually barely off the floor causing his hair to drag on the floor and his foot was actually higher than my suspension ring as I recall.  All in all .. not an impressive presentation.

This tie has special significance for him and I could tell that he really wanted this shot so I quickly agreed and we hunted down the tallest rig at the event and I took my time rigging him while we hoped that someone would track down David Lawrence or his lovely slave Judy for us since they were the official Shibaricon photo folks this year.

As I worked, another couple grabbed chairs nearby indicating that they were waiting on the rig and there was still no sign of a photographer.  I was beginning to worry that my poor little friend was going to be “SOOL” when my Brett came back and informed us that David was photographing Tatu’s Tea Ceremony and was going to come over in just a few minutes.  It was time to stop stalling and get him fully inverted and tied off!

This is a pretty challenging tie to be in for any length of time so it was important to time it as well as possible to optimize the flight to photo time!  I was pleased with the few photos that David sent to me and will be adding them as a gallery here soon.  In the meantime I hope you enjoy this one!

<LOL> Glancing at it again, it reminds me of those shots of the “big game” fishermen with thei prize catch hanging beside them… all that is missing is the hook! <grin>

Presentation of a Special Ring…

Filed under: Adventure Reports, Personal Reflections — Suzanne SxySadist @ 4:15 pm

At Shibaricon tonight during opening ceremonies, I was honoured alongside another fine rope lover named Firefly, by a presentation of a suspension ring and a handmade length of rope by three men I admire tremendously. The idea and the ring came from my Brett because I had told him about something Lee Harrington had said during one of his classes a few years back that really touched me and he relayed that story to my friend Lochai.  This is what Lochai had to say prior to presenting the rings to us…

“During the course of one´s life certain milestones are reached & achievements are achieved. In different walks of life there are different ways to mark these occasions.  After years of schooling, diplomas, master´s degrees, PHDs that are hung on the walls to say, look, I have made it here. These pieces of paper costs a lot of time, skill & money to achieve. At the end of a race, trophies are presented to show what has been done in the past to be recognized by people in the future. Painful training, diets & daily sacrifice. At the end of a long uphill climb a flag is placed to show, I have made it to the top. Skill, diligence, perseverance.

In the Leather community when a Dominant has gained the respect of their peers, they are granted a cap to show, I am now part of the elite, I am now a capped Master. Years of training, mentorship & gaining the respect of others. This is one of the highest compliments a community can pay one of their own. In our community, the “Weaver Family”, the riggers. Those who like to tie & be tied, things are a bit different from the rest of society. We don´t subscribe to the same hierarchy system that other communities do. Yes, we do have those we respect, we look up to, we walk besides and those we consider our peers. Regardless of being the one who ties or loves the feel of the ropes themselves we look upon one another as equals without levels of accomplishments worn on our sleeves, or certificates on our walls or caps on our heads. We all have our own styles, philosophies, skills & ideals. We all have our own leaders we look up to based on our own personal experience and don´t have one central depository to defer Triscelli Ring to for guidance. Yes there are some among us who have more lines drawn to them than others but this is because they are humble and have touched so many with their desire to share their knowledge without expecting a return. We don´t need the material proof of this or the titles to know where we belong.

We are all on the same journey… which brings me to the reason I am up here tonight. I am humbled by the request to be here to make two special presentations. Based on the kudos that other communities bestow upon their own, we too have symbols that represent not our accomplishment per se, but our journey. These symbols are not the result of reaching “The End” but instead are symbols as well as tools of the trade to say, I too am on the journey with you. Tonight we are here to present our symbols of this journey, a ring & a hand made length of rope. To be used not to show “Look at what I have achieved but only to say, look what I have been given to use on my journey.” I am humbled because I have been asked to be one of the travelers that are looked up to by others on this journey of rope of ours. I would now like to ask another who has been asked to make these presentations to join me: Jimi Tatu.

(Jimi offered a few words about how we first met and our friendship and then Lochai continued.)

Wow… has it only been 5 years? I met this beautiful, talented woman at this very event in the restaurant area of the hotel long with many others who are now present. What struck me was her humble attitude as well as a kick ass book of hojojitsu ties that we all stood around trying to decipher. Suze has been a guiding light to me and I have deferred to her many times when asked about ties & the journey. She has supported me on my own journey & I am proud to say that I am her friend. A talented rigger with a sense of the beauty to be found in our art that many do not see nor are able touch upon. I am again humbled to be here to present these material things to a woman who needs not prove anything to anyone……”

By this point I was naturally in tears and could not manage to say anything at all.  I went up, did my best not to trip on anything because my face was streaked with happy and embarrassed tears so I couldn’t see very well.  I hugged them both very tightly, took my new ring and a length of rope that Lochai made with his own hands and then I sat down again and kissed my Brett.  Words still fail me.  I cannot begin to say how honored I feel or how much I will always treasure that memory and those gifts.  I am still humbled, amazed and awestruck that these men whose work I have admired for so very long would honour me that way and look at me as one of their peers.  Thank you guys..  I love you all.  <smile>

Anderson Garden Trip

Filed under: Adventure Reports — Suzanne SxySadist @ 11:10 pm

For the past few years two of my Shibaricon family members have been organizing a pre conference excursion to Anderson Japanese Gardens and this year for the first time I arrived into Chicago in time to join them and I am really glad I did.  In fact Brett came in the evening before so that he and I could join a couple of dozen or so other kinksters for a few magical hours as we wandered and explored this amazing place.

In fact the place was so beautiful and I got so many wonderful photos of it that I had a very damn hard time deciding what photo to share with you from it so I am going to be posting a full gallery of that in the next week or so, (as soon as I get the cutie in the pic above to remind me how to do that).  <smile> (After note: Mission accomplished .. Click here!)

In the meantime suffice it to say that it was a really wonderful experience and I look forward to returning again and again for our annual “Weaver Family Reunion”!

Formal Dinner At La Domain Esemar

Filed under: Adventure Reports — Suzanne SxySadist @ 4:22 pm

The incomparable Master R of La Domaine Esemar, served a sumptuous five course,  ”fairly” formal dinner last night to which I was privileged to be invited. The table setting was lovely, the company delightful and the meal was absolutely marvelous! I am sadly under educated when it comes to exquisite meals and the details of the meals will be mostly lost in translation but here is what I recall.  The meal started with a lovely broth that had pheasant egg drops and pheasant sausage in it along with a nice light white wine.

TDinner at La Domaine hen there were two delicious ducks courses one that was paired with tasty black trumpet mushrooms (I am especially fond of those) and the other had another type of mushroom that I was less wild about but still very good! There was also a delightful salad and some delectable sorbet with coconut cream in it served with a wonderful glass of champagne…

oh and I seemed to have neglected to mention that the table centerpiece was an absolutely lovely female slave, hogtied and totally naked but for a thong, an exquisite pair of black shoes and wrists and ankle cuffs!

This sweet little centerpiece served not only as decoration for the table during this fabulous meal but also as between course entertainment while myself and the other guests including her handsome and charming Master took turns teasing and tormenting her.

It was absolutely one of the most delicious, and totally charming evenings I have spent in quite some time.  I have shared one photo from the evening thus far but this sweet slave has a fabulously entertaining blog located here: Long Distance Sub  She is currently documenting her weekend stay at Master R’s and I have enjoyed peeking in and reading of her other exploits there as well as her experience on the dinner table.  Take a peek!

May Birthdays & UKS Suspension!

Filed under: Personal Reflections — Suzanne SxySadist @ 11:23 am

Ughhh!  I sometimes do not know where the time goes, but let me see if I can tell you what my favorite parts of the last 2 weeks have been! Ahh oh yeah .. the birthdays!!  I know way too many people with birthdays in May!

On top of my list of favorites, my sweet god child turned 5 this month and there were two very special celebrations associated with the joyous event. I just LOVE to see that little one smile!  I would so love to post a photo of her but it would be completely inappropriate on an adult blog. But trust me when I tell you she is the prettiest little girl I know. <grin>

My sweetheart Brett’s birthday was also this month on the 7th and he came up to spend a couple of days with me to celebrate as well as playing demo bottom for me as I did a suspension class for the great folks at Utica Kink Society! I love tying that man up, he looks so damn delicious in rope! I love containing his strength & energy that way.  He never  ”feels” like a wussy subbie boy to me. I actually love that when I bind him I feel his strength ”push” back against me, not in the sense that he is resisting but rather it is like you can only see how strong something is when you test it a it.  Perhaps I will explore that a bit more on that another time.

Anyhow, I have a few more birthday shout outs to send: First my beautiful,  sexy, and really damn smart niece Nadia turned 21! I can hardly believe that!  I remember that little one the day she was born and now to see her all grown up and going to nursing school is simply amazing to me!  I am so proud of her in so many ways for everything she is doing for herself in spite of the challenges she has dealt with in her home life. She is an inspiration!

Another very special young lady that I know turned 18 on May 14th, and my brother’s birthday is the 16th! I haven’t seen him in quite a long time because he is on the wrong coast and my travels haven’t taken me to CA in quite awhile. I really miss my kid brother and may have to plan a trip way out west soon.

Finally my wonderful room mate and live in slave Tom is turning 69 while I am in Chicago! And let me tell you .. he is in fabulous shape for his age!  Hell he would have to be in great shape to put up with me!  <grin>

Well .. Happy Birthday again to all the special May people in my life and I will post some more soon!

Ps the photo that accompanies this post was taken at Floating World in NJ last summer.  You probably can’t tell from the photo but my Brett was locked in a chastity “curve” and the key was dangling from the nipple ring over my heart.  Awww sweet right?  Well it totally turned me on and I kept dangling that key and nipple over his lips taunting him with it while I caned and teased him.  Mmmm it was a really delicious night!
