What is a Sacred Intimate?

A Sacred Intimate is a professional that uses whatever life experience, and training they have at their disposal to work erotically and energetically with those seeking healing, guidance or transformation in their erotic and spiritual lives.

This work can include anything from a simple but heart felt and intentional hug, to a Taoist erotic massage, or role play, bondage and sacred SM play or any number of other things that will meet the needs of the client while not crossing the professional & personal boundaries of the SI.

I feel that what truly sets a sacred intimate apart from other sex workers is their heart felt intention to help and to heal others, and their deep desire to share love in it's purest and most unconditional form.

It is not just about sex and lust or “getting off”, (not that there is anything wrong with sex or lust or "getting off"), but Sacred Intimate work for me is about healing and reclaiming, rejoicing and celebrating the beautiful erotic spirit with in each of us.

Many Sacred Intimates, like myself, have received specific training through the Body Electric School based in Oakland California. Perhaps the course description excerpted from the Body Electric web site will help shed even more light on what an "SI" tries to accomplish and how:

This training is for men and women who wish to explore the potential of erotic energy to transform, heal, celebrate body wholeness and energize spiritual awareness. It is for those who are ready to consciously integrate erotic energy into their vocational practices and for those who want to learn more about working in erotic/spiritual dimensions with individuals.

We will come together as a learning community of erotic healers, guides, colleagues and ambassadors from other realms. We will use ritual, breath, touch, psychodrama, and conscious S/M as tools for creating individual sessions that allow us to explore our edges and continue our journeys of self-awareness. Daily individual sessions let participants learn from a wide range of personal interactions both giving and receiving.

Aside from the specific Sacred Intimate Training with Body Electric, I have also taken many other courses with them to add to my skills and experience personally and professionally. Intention is or at least can be Everything! -

I have found personally that this work can be at it's most meaningful when the receiver and SI are able to determine and set a clear intention before the session begins. "What is an intention, and how do I set one?", you may ask?

The meaning that most rings true to me, according to Merriam Webster) is: a : what one intends to do or bring about b : the object for which a prayer, mass, or pious act is offered.

What does this type of Intention have to do with sacred sexuality?

Everything!

We all know that understanding someone's good intentions in a situation will often make the difference in how we perceive them, especially when those intentions truly involve healing, compassion or love for ourselves or for others. If we truly believe in our intentions it is much easier to get excited about seeing them through to fruition, and that excitement can be contagious.

Close your eyes for a moment and ask your heart what it would most desire to truly manifest more happiness in your life. What is your heart's true desire? For some of us it may be riches, power or fame and that is fine, and a true intention that you can focus erotic energy toward acheiving.

But many of us truly desire less material things. For example: understanding and acceptance of our true selves, better communication and richer love between ourselves and those we care about, a greater sense of purpose in our lives, healing of old wounds, etc.

It has long been accepted in many circles that erotic energy has healing or regenerative powers and that by channeling it to specific areas of the body, healing can begin to take place. Now imagine for a moment that your erotic energy IS a truly wonderful gift, one with amazing healing, regernative, life giving and affirming properties! Through visualization you can channel or direct that energy to specific areas in your body that would most benefit or even offer it up to the heavens and use it to connect with your partner and / or the Divine.

I totally believe that erotic energy is a gift, one that you should cherish and delight in and certainly enjoy to it's fullest potential. I would like to help you realize that potential and hopefully some intentions along the way as well.
