Still Chugging Along

So – dang I am still having a fair bit of pain from the sciatica, but I think I am having some success with acupuncture. I’ve been seeing a great Dr for a couple of weeks now, and it is at least no longer getting worse and most days, by the end of the day, I am not in as much agony as I had been, soooo I’ll take it!! πŸ™‚

I am still having trouble hitting my treadmill as much as I like unfortunately and I am trying to find the balance between keeping up with my morning gym routine and giving my body space to heal. Although, I am not sure that inactivity would do this any good.

I have been cutting back on running and doing more bike workouts, which seem to be better at not hammering away at that sciatic nerve. I foolishly / excitedly bought myself an inexpensive rower right before Christmas and was looking forward to hitting that as a full body workout this year, but thus far my left glute has not been liking that idea much yet – lol.

I did however add a 5 day per week dumbbell strength training routine followed by daily stretch routine that I am really enjoying, through an app on my phone called Habit Nest. I am a month in and I really love it and I am already starting to feel / see some positive changes. Strength training has long been one of those things that I know I should do, but I just had trouble making myself find a routine that worked – but I think this is the one. Yay!

I also wanted to share these stats in the infographic on the left that I got this week from iFit (my treadmill and bike workout folks). 617 workouts – 1079 miles and over 23 thousand feet of elevation (plus the AT ha!). Woohoo! I knew I had done a lot last year but dang! This feels a bit brag worthy. <grin>

All that said – when you ask for an appt and I tell you the earliest I have is noon or 1p – that’s because I am hitting the gym for a cardio workout and then doing 90 mins or so of strength training and stretches – every morning – 5 days a week!

And finally, I promised you some pics of the most recent hair color play session I had with help from my favorite 20 year old. πŸ™‚ I took a few selfies while waiting on a new client – (who I had a REALLY good time with by the way) Ohh and I LOVE these new pants – they are butter soft and so comfy! I hope you enjoy them!

Great photos, you are very beautiful and have that certain kind of smile, kind of a mischievous look knowing your client is enjoying himself. and who wouldnt?

Happy to hear you’re on the mend, Mz Suzanne. I admire your commitment to exercise. I need that discipline πŸ˜‰ And wow wow wow I love your hair!

Firstly, your color looks wonderful. Kudos to having the moxey.

Secondly, do you have access to a pool? You will work so many more muscles, but sometimes it just takes time. Everything healed so much faster in the 80’s.

Look forward to meeting you and so happy to read you are busting it, at the gym. It ain’t easy.

    Sincerely,
    Ed

Aww thanks Ed – Things actually got bad enough that I am taking a few days off to see if that helps the piriformis to heal – I am definitely restless but feeling better! Concert report on the way!!
